July 4th

We had a great 4th of July this year. Gal was so much fun to enjoy the day with. We started of at 5:45am with a wake up call for the annual Peavine Falls Race at Oak Mountain. 8.25 miles (3.5 miles are up a mountain, 900' feet elevation gain, then 3.5 back down hill, followed by 1.25 miles of offroad single mountain bike track). I finished with a good time of 1h02m and was pleased. mommy and gal were there to root me on. When I got to the top of the mountain, all I could think about was getting down as fast as I could so I could see them both. We then took off to Lay Lake and spent 6 hours with mommy's parents, her brother and his wife and some of Mr. Q's friends at their lake house. The afternoon was full with bow shooting, home made ice cream, grilling out hot dogs and time for gal and Ella (gal's one month old cousin) to spend time together. Perfect afternoon at the lake. We then headed back to Birmingham to catch fireworks at Vulcan Park. We watched from SOHO square in Homewood. We started off by getting some coffee at O'Henry's. Gal got to pet a pony and then we went up to Jackson's to get some famous buffalo feathers and peppercorn pizza. We followed the same schedule as last year, so perhaps this is becoming a tradition. Finally, we headed over to the SOHO to watch the fireworks. Gal LOVED them. Be sure to check out the video (soon to come). All is well here.... we hope everyone had a great 4th!
