Last Wednesday, Gal got pink eye from daycare and the Doctor put her on antibiotics. We were just thankful that she did not get the virus with vommitting that some of her playmates got.....or so we thought...read on. Grandma was able to take off work on Thursday to take care of her.
We took a trip to the beach this year with Greg's Family (Pops and Lolly, Pa and Mimi, gal's aunt, Greg, gal and me). It was...quite a trip to say the least. We decided to pack up for the beach and leave Thursday evening so we would be there in the morning.Gal could sleep on the way. Aunt was riding down with us and she had a date Thursday night, so we left once she arrived at our house around 1 in the morning. We arrived at the beach house at about 5 am. Greg drove the whole way (I don't know how he did it). I slept, well tried to, so that I could be up around 6am when gal would wake up. She woke up Friday morning and we spent the day playing. We went to Seaside and ate lunch at Bud & Allys where we had the best mahi ever and then shopped a little. Back at the beach house, Greg and I caught some sun rays while Pa and Mimi entertained gal. Gal was a little fussy, but all in all it was a good day.
Saturday, Gal began to get more fussy and although she was super tired, would not nap at all. The pink eye appeared to have gone away. She was happy one second and then crying the next which is not like her at all. She is typically the laid back, happy baby. She was grabbing on her ears, which is not atypical of her. When she gets frustrated, sometimes she pulls on them. She is very animated with her hands. And I did not think it could be an ear infection because she was on antibiotics for her pink eye. We were at a loss for what was wrong with her.
Before we left for dinner on Saturday, Greg caught a fish at the pond behind the beach house.
Saturday evening, we all went out to dinner at a restaurant in Sea Side. Gal was her typical self, showing off. Got back to the house and she had a hard time going to sleep, lots of crying.
Sunday morning was Mother's Day. Greg and I decided to take gal to the beach. She did not mind her feet touching the water and would sink her little feet into the sand. She was enjoying herself and so Greg decided to go for a run. About 5 minutes after he left, gal had the melt down of all melt downs. It was quite a site for everyone around me. I was carrying a screaming child and everything I could fit under my arms and headed for the car. Once Greg made it back, I was in tears, having my own melt down. We got back to the beach house and settled down a little. Then we went for a great Mother's Day brunch at Bay Town Warf. They had the best Banana Foster Beignets ever. Gal was okay there and when she began to get fussy, we fed her food or walked her around.
We decided to leave Sunday evening instead of Monday. It was the best decision ever! So we packed up and waited for her to fall asleep. Lots of crying wore her out. It is much easier to drive with a sleeping baby! We did not want to take a chance leaving on Monday with her screaming the whole way home. So we left around 7 pmand made it home late again.
This picture about sums up our beach trip (Gal's holding a bottle of Tylenol)!
Monday morning, we took a visit to the Doctor. Doctor said that she had the red throat virus which lead to a double ear infection. He said the ear infection had just started. Poor thing, no wonder she was miserable. The Doctor said that she got the virus from her playmates at school. Gal's virus took on another form. Instead of vommitting, hers turned into a double ear infection. Within a few hours of receiving her antibiotics and napping, she was back to her normal self.
Monday was our 7th Wedding Anniversary. We relaxed and had movie marathon! It was the perfect day.

I'm an expert on ear infections now! Never thought I would own that title! The whole time I am reading, I am thinking, "I bet Blakely has an ear infection!" Double ear infections are not fun! C has had TWO ear infections since tubes and I think she's working on number 3.
Glad y'all had a great 7th anniversary!
